Who we are

  • The Young Scholar Tournament (YST) is a joint initiative of SiL Testing System and West London College. Together they decide how personal data shared through this website is used.

What we collect

  • Contact form: your name, email address, enquiry topic, and, if you choose to give them, your country, school or organisation, plus your message.
  • Security data: we keep a one-way scrambled version of your connection address to limit repeat messages and block spam. We never store the address itself.
  • Cookies: essential cookies and similar storage that keep the site working and remember your cookie choice. See the cookie section below.

How we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and send it to the right YST team member or national coordinator.
  • To run the tournament, including registration, national rounds and the London Global Final.
  • To protect the website from abuse and spam.
  • We never sell your data. We only share it with the coordinator or partner handling your enquiry.

How long we keep it

  • We keep contact messages for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and run the current tournament season, then delete them. The scrambled security data is only used to count recent messages.

Cookies

  • Essential: needed for security and to remember your cookie choice. These are always on.
  • Optional: only used if you choose 'Accept all', to help us understand how visitors use the site. You can change your choice at any time with the button below.

Your rights

  • Under UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete your data, object to or limit how we use it, or ask for a copy. If the participant is under 18, a parent or guardian can make these requests for them.
  • To make a request, send us a message through our contact form.
